The Definition of Fitness

The Definition of Fitness

By Adam Berry — The Gym Starter Personal Training

The Oxford Dictionary defines fitness as…

BOOOOOOORRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIING

I hear you scream.

Who cares about the Oxford Dictionary…

If Shakespeare could make up words and meanings…I should be allowed too as well. #amirite?

Plus…definitions…hard and fast ones…are usually the reason we all have:

  • Outlandish expectations of ourselves
  • Inflexible thoughts relating to topics.
  • Unhealthy relationships with certain things.

Hence

I decided to write THE DEFINITION OF FITNESS and share it with the world.

Is it perfect?

Hell no. But its not meant to be perfect.

Thats kinda my point.

But its the best I could come up with for my clients, and others who relate to my clients.

It all came from a conversation with one of my dear clients.

She came to the gym feeling a bit

BLURGH

All because in her mind the fitness ‘regime’ << another thing I need to deal with and will link to when I do.

The ‘regime’ she wanted to keep up, she was unable to keep up. And felt like things were slipping. She was slipping. She felt like she was failing.

The only thing she failed at was this.

She failed to remember that sometimes:

  1. Work will take over
  2. Children will take over
  3. Energy levels will drop

and most importantly…

 4. She is still a superstar

The definition of Fitness is here: THE DEFINITION OF FITNESS

If you can come up with a better definition, or your own meaning to the word…I would love to hear it.

It’s important to structure and understand why you do what you do to give yourself purpose and meaning.
